Double Delight for Mazda
Mazda has two reasons to celebrate, posting its best sales figure of the year in March, and setting an all-time Japanese financial year sales record.
According to VFACTS figures released today, Mazda continued its strong start to the year selling 9,112 new cars, utilities and SUVs in March, its best month of the year so far.
The result secures Mazda’s second place in the market overall having sold 26,752 vehicles year-to-date, up 0.9 per cent compared to the same time last year and with a healthy 9.8 per cent market share. It remains the country’s leading full-line importer.
In addition, Mazda enjoyed its best-ever Japanese financial year results, selling a record 104,125 vehicles between 1 April, 2012 and 31 March, 2013, up 13.2 per cent on the previous year and with a record 9.3 per cent market share.
For the fourth month in a row, and for the eighth time since January last year, Mazda3 was Australia’s most popular car with 3,786 new car sales. Not only was March Mazda3’s best sales month of the year but it extended its lead in the small car sales segment.
Mazda CX-5’s sales success story continues with 1,830 finding new homes in March. Following the successful late-February launch of the 2.5 litre CX-5 and with a total of 4,774 sales YTD, the CX-5 is Australia’s most popular SUV.
Ably supporting Mazda3 and CX-5, Mazda2 again showed that big things come in small packages, with 1,476 March sales. With more than 87,000 Mazda2s sold since its launch in October 2007, the little hatch has been another Mazda success story.
Further proving strength across the Mazda range, the BT-50 had its best March on record, selling 1,183 new utilities.
Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson said, “Our results over the last 12 months have been very satisfying and would not have been possible without such a great range of vehicles or the dedication and hard work of our dealer network. Our gratitude, of course, also extends to Australian car buyers that have placed their trust in the Mazda brand.”
